Participating in the Merchant City's festive competition to find the
best Christmas windows as part of the Festival of Light, SCIM won the
prize for the most creative window.

The following story was printed in the Merchant City Newsletter The Merchant:

Merchant City Is A Winter Window Wonderland

The Merchant City got into the festive spirit this year with an abundance of festive windows on display. 25 different shops, restaurants and other businesses took part in the comptition timed to open as part of Radiance Festival of Light and organised through the Merchant City Initiative.

The festive window displays were assessed by a panel of judges who scored the standard of the display, content, attention to detail as well as "Wow" and "Ho Ho Ho" factors. The inventive use of lighting was the main theme this year with shops using glitterballs, fairly lights and acres of tinsel to create sparkling displays for shoppers and passers-by.

There were three overall winners with Scottish Care and Information on Miscarriage winning the overall prize and VV Roleeaux at 94 Miller St scoring highest on "Festive Cheer", and the Centre for Under 5s at 50 Parnie Street on the "Ho, Ho, Ho" factor! Runners up included Tenant Participation Service at 74 Saltmarket and DB Advertising 256 High Street who were also commended highly for their inventive Christmas window displays.

Presenting the award Baillie Matheson said "I was delighted with the high standard of Christmas windows on display in the Merchant City and it was very hard to make the final decision. I hope that this competition takes place in further years and that it will encourage more people into the area".
